BODY ROCK: A Body Positive Dance Event

This week, you do not want to miss BODY ROCK! The Center for Gender, Sexuality, and Activism is partnering with Off The Cuff Magazine to present this body positive dance party from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM on Thursday, Feb. 27th, 2014. The event will take place in the 808 Gallery at 808 Commonwealth Avenue. You can purchase your tickets for $5 via Eventbrite here. “By bringing together The Center for Gender, Sexuality, and Activism’s mission to create safe(r) spaces for expression and Off The Cuff’s fashion expertise, we hope to transform the fashion industry from the oppressor to the voice for change” (BODY ROCK Facebook event description). Thus, the hosts encourage people of all genders, shapes, sizes, and sexualities to “dress to express”.

The event will incorporate fashion, dance, and live art elements into the mix. You can dance to DJ CSC, fashion will be provided by ASOS, House of Findings, & Rent the Runway, and The Art of Maximo Davis will wow you with the live art element. (I also hear there will be GLITTER!)

What’s even cooler is you can enter a raffle via Instagram! Here are the rules:

  1. Follow @BUCGSA and @OffTheCuffMag
  2. Post a photo with the tag #BUBODYROCK (i.e. “Hoochie makes my body rock #BUBODYROCK”)

Prizes include: Starbucks gift cards, clothes from sponsors (including ASOS and House of Findings), and two GRAND PRIZES!
