LGBTQ+ Rights: United States vs. Russia

In response to the Sochi Olympics, I’ve seen a lot of Americans with a superiority complex over Russia when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights. People seem to have forgotten that the US should not be seen as a leader in terms of gay rights. Here’s an article that goes into the anti-gay propaganda laws in Russia in comparison with the proposed legislation in Kansas, that would allow anyone to turn away gay people if it is against his or her religious beliefs.

And here are some maps about gay marriage laws, LGBTQ+ hate crime legislation and miscellaneous facts about current American policies that affect the LBGTQ+ community.
